~ Circa 1800 Plaster Figure of Lady on Column Base ~

A fine Georgian plaster figure of a lady on a column base dating to circa 1800.

The figure who is clad in a toga with a wreath in one hand is most likely one of two Roman goddesses; ‘Ceres’, the Roman goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships or ‘Flora’, the Roman goddess of flowers and the season of spring.

The figure sits on a column base, it is not attached.

The figure is painted throughout whilst the column just has gilt highlights to the decoration.

The figure on base has a total height of 145cm (57 inches).

~ Condition ~

The figure has some loss of paint and a few small chips to the plaster but is in good overall condition commensurate with age.

The base also has some loss of finish and some chips to the plaster but is in decent condition.

The item can be picked up in person from our shop in Portsmouth, UK.
