Here we have a really rather interesting sword, these swords were used in British Service around 1800 and they are an anomaly since no collector or researcher can really agree what they are.

It is most likely a rare variant of the 1804 pattern Royal Navy cutlass.

These swords appear in many different forms with many different blade profiles and styles of guard but they all share the features of an iron handle and a brass or bronze guard, the blades are often blacked.

This blade I believe might be naval due to the similarities with officers fighting weapons, it has a sidering and the heavy curved blade that matches some officers weapons so I would say this is a fighting weapon for an officer or a senior NCO based on the cutlass blades of the time.

The sword is a short hanger with a black iron grip, a gun metal style guard.

Overall an incredibly interesting and unique sword.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 24 inche (61 cm) long.

The sword is 28 inches (71 cm) long.
