A rare late 14th century (circa 1370) French or German beaten coppery bronze communion casket.
The hexagon shaped casket is cast with the story of Christ across all 6 sides of both the lid & the casket.
It stands on an extended foot.
~ Dimensions ~
The piece has a height of 10 inches (25.4 cm). The base has a width of 5 inches (12.7 cm) & a depth of 4 inches (10.1 cm).
It weighs 500 g.
~ Condition ~
The casket is in overall excellent condition considering its age.
There is light surface wear and a deep overall patina to the inside & base of the foot but it remains in otherwise excellent condition.
