After completing their training, a female Nurse would traditionally be given a buckle. This was purchased by the Nurse's family or issued by the hospital they worked at after graduating. The buckle would have been silver or silver plate and worn on a black Petersham belt.
This lovely example is silver plated and dates to the 1930’s.
It is highly decorative and incorporates images of cherubs.
It is marked ‘EPNS’ for electro plated nickel silver.
