The wakizashi comes with its black painted bamboo scabbard and a bronze coloured silk strap.

The blade is made in the ‘shinogi-kukuri’ pattern - Shinogi-zukuri chu (medium).

Its mune (blade back) is shaped in the 'komaru' style and its kissaki (point) is ‘chu’ (medium).

The boshi (sword tip) hamon is shaped in the yakizume (no turn-back) pattern.

The hamon is shaped in the toran (billowing) pattern.

The swords fittings are made of gilded copper and steel.

This item underwent a tested repolish in Japan.

The habaki (blade locket/ferrule) is made of decorated copper.

The tsuba (guard) is made of steel.

The fushi (sleeve) is made of black painted copper decorated on one side with gold plated floral inlay.

The tsuka (grip) is made of bamboo covered with cream rayskin varnished woven silk.

The menuki (ornaments) take the form of a cherry branch with flowers and leaves.

The tang nakako (shape) is kijimomo with a nakago-jiri (tang’s tip) shaped in the kengyo pattern with kiri (tang file marks).

On a closer look a signature can be seen on the lower end of the tang.

This item underwent a tested re-polish in Japan.

The same sign can be found printed on the funchi and kashira (pommel).

~ Dimensions ~

The blades length is 19 ½ inches (49.5 cm), without the tang.

The sword in its scabbard length is 28.5 inches (72 cm).

The complete weight is 830 g.

~ Condition ~

The item has a very fine blade finish and is free of rust or nicks showing activities.

The hamon has faded but it is still visible.

There is a small crack starting at the koigouchi (scabbard mouth) but all fittings are in good order.

The tempered edge of the blade has a minor chip but it is in otherwise good condition.
