*British, WWII, RAF Sweetheart Brooch, Silver & Enamel, King’s Crown*

WWII RAF silver & enamel sweetheart brooch, King’s Crown. A classic wartime keepsake in very good condition.

A fine original WWII Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch, crafted in silver and marked SILVER to the reverse. The design features outstretched wings, centred by the crowned RAF monogram. The crown is enamelled in red and gold, with the central roundel displaying vivid blue enamel surrounded by a green enamel laurel wreath. The wings retain good feather detailing. The brooch is fitted with a period pin and clasp fastening.

Historical Note:
Sweetheart brooches were purchased by serving RAF personnel or their families during WWII and worn by wives, fiancées, mothers, or sisters to show pride and connection to their loved one’s service. Silver and enamel examples such as this were a popular choice, often sold privately or through jewellers. The use of the King’s Crown dates the piece securely to the George VI era (1936–1952), with this style being most common during WWII.

*Condition*
The brooch is in good condition for its age. The enamel is intact with only light surface wear and some minor age-related crazing visible under close inspection. The silver has developed a natural patina, which could be polished if desired. The reverse is clearly stamped SILVER. The pin and clasp are complete and functional. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
