*British, WWII, RAF Pilots Wings, Sweetheart Brooch, White Metal*

A charming WWII RAF sweetheart brooch in the form of pilot’s wings – a touching keepsake of wartime.

A fine original World War II Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch, cast in the form of a pilot’s full brevet wings. The badge displays feathered wings flanking a central crown and RAF monogram, closely following the design of the officer’s pilot qualification badge. Constructed in silver-coloured metal, with a pin-back fitting to the reverse.
Measures 4.9cm wide x 1.5cm high. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.

Historical Note:
Sweetheart brooches were cherished symbols of affection during the Second World War, privately purchased and presented by RAF personnel to loved ones on the Home Front. Designs ranged from simple enamel badges to jeweller-made silver and gold miniatures of official insignia. Winged types, such as this example, were especially popular among pilots and aircrew, serving as a visible reminder of service and sacrifice.

*Condition*
Good original condition with expected signs of age and patina. The silver-tone finish has dulled over time, particularly to the reverse, with some oxidation to the pin fitting. The clasp remains present and functional. A genuine period piece with untouched surfaces.
