*British, WWII, Five Medal Group to Mr J.M. Morrison, Whitley Bay — with Original Ministry of Defence Box, 1986 Late Issue*
A fine, complete WWII campaign medal group comprising:
1939–45 Star
Africa Star
Italy Star
Defence Medal
War Medal 1939–45
All medals are mounted with original issue ribbons and are un-named as issued (British WWII campaign medals were generally not named, except for some Indian and South African issues).
This group comes with one original Ministry of Defence issue box, addressed to Mr J.M. Morrison, 6 Mount Close, Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear, and dated 14-8-86. The box is clearly marked O.H.M.S. (On His Majesty’s Service) and stamped "Official Paid," with a reference number (D/medals/2/1/18859).
The combination of Africa and Italy Stars indicates service in both North African and Italian campaigns, suggesting a continuous contribution to key Allied operations during WWII.
Historical note:
It was common for WWII medals to be claimed decades later, often after government campaigns encouraging veterans to apply.
*Condition*
Medals are in excellent condition, showing minimal toning and retaining bright, crisp ribbons. The box shows some handling wear and creasing from postage but remains complete and clearly legible, adding significant provenance and display appeal.
