GAUNT LONDON”, confirming manufacture by the well-known London firm. Complete with original pin-back fitting.
Historical Note:
A scarce original enamel supporter’s badge for the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA), measuring 2.5 cm wide x 3.4 cm tall. The circular design is surmounted by a King’s Crown, with a dark blue enamel border bearing the legend “SOLDIERS SAILORS AND AIRMENS FAMILIES ASSOCIATION”. The central device shows the distinctive SSAFA interlaced knot emblem in red enamel. Reverse with pin-back fitting and impressed maker’s cartouche, which looks to read GAUNT LONDON, but it is partially obscured by patina.
