*British, WW2, Military Whistle, Dated 1943, by J. Hudson & Co., Birmingham*

An original British military "General Service" whistle, produced in 1943 by J. Hudson & Co., Birmingham. This type was widely issued to officers, NCOs, and military police during the Second World War, used for command and control on parade grounds and in the field.

The whistle is clearly marked "J. Hudson & Co., Birmingham, 1943" with the broad arrow acceptance stamp beneath, denoting official military issue. Made of nickel-plated brass, it measures approximately 6.7 cm in length. J. Hudson & Co. (later known for their famous “Acme” whistles) was a key supplier to British forces from the Victorian era through both World Wars.

This example retains its original wartime finish, with honest wear, surface marks, and patina from use. Notably, the top suspension loop (for lanyard or chain) is missing, which is reflected in the value.

*Condition*
Good overall structural condition with expected surface wear, areas of plating loss, and some tarnishing in crevices. The whistle is fully functional and still produces a strong, clear tone. The original top loop is broken off and missing, which does not affect its use. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
