The 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun is regarded as one of the most successful weapon designs ever created. First produced in 1932, a heavily modernized version remains in production even today. Used by numerous nations, the British began testing the gun in 1937, and it swiftly became the army's standard light anti-aircraft (AA) weapon. By 1942, production had increased to 5,025 units per year. The Bofors gun also saw extensive service with the Royal Navy aboard ships, providing effective defense against aircraft and small vessels. It utilized a clip holding four rounds of fixed ammunition, which was manually fed into the top of the gun.
