*British, WW2, 1939–1945, France and Germany Star Medal, with Original Ribbon*
This is an original France and Germany Star, a British campaign medal awarded for operational service between 6 June 1944 (D-Day) and 8 May 1945 (VE Day) during the Second World War. The six-pointed bronze star features the crowned cypher of King George VI ("GRI VI") and is inscribed "THE FRANCE AND GERMANY STAR". It retains its original ribbon, composed of equal bands of blue, white, and red—symbolising the colours of the Allied nations involved in the campaign.
The France and Germany Star was awarded to personnel of the British and Commonwealth forces who served in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, or Germany during the campaign in North-West Europe. It is one of the eight campaign stars issued for service during World War II.
*Condition* Medal shows expected age patina with minor surface wear. The original ribbon is intact but exhibits fraying at the top edges and some stitching irregularities. The reverse is plain, as issued (this medal was typically unnamed). Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
