*British, WW1, Royal Navy, Queen Alexandra's Nursing Service Buckle and Blue Belt, Silver Hall Marked 1916, Made by Page Keen & Page Plymouth, with Original Box*
This is a very rare WW1 Sister Nurse's Buckle and Belt. The Buckle features a King's Crowned fouled anchor on domed ground, within a laurel wreath surround. Hallmarked on the buckle "D&F, Anchor (Birmingham), lion passant (guardant) mark, r (1916)," D&F is the sponsors mark for Deakin & Francis Ltd of Birmingham. On the other end of the buckle the makers name: "Page. Keen & Page, Plymouth" who were goldsmiths in Plymouth 1956-1970. The other buckle is hallmarked with a "the lion passant (guardant) mark, r (1916)". It is not uncommon to find naval silver artefacts with both D&F and Page, Keen & Page Marks on them.
The Buckle and Belt comes in its original pale blue box, marked with the retailers details "Charlwoods (Jewellers) ltd, 9 Langney Road, Eastbourne, Estd 1883".
Blue Belt is approx; 77cm x 6cm, approx; 83cm overall including buckle. The buckle measures approx 5cm diameter.
