The Royal Sussex Regiment
This line infantry regiment was formed in 1881. It continued in British Army service until 1966, when it became part of The Queen’s Regiment.

Great War Medal - 2449 Pte. S. Read.  R. Suss. R.
The British War Medal, awarded to those who served in World War I between August 5, 1914, and November 11, 1918, featured King George V on the obverse and St. George defeating Prussianism on the reverse. About 6.39 million Silver versions and 110,000 Bronze versions were awarded.

The Victory Medal - 2449 Pte. S. Read.  R. Suss. R.
The Victory Medal, featuring Victory on the front and the inscription ‘The Great War for Civilization 1914-1919’ on the back, was awarded to those who received the 1914 Star or the 1914–15 Star, and most recipients of the British War Medal. Service eligibility involved entering any theater of war between August 5, 1914, and November 11, 1918, with approximately 5.7 million medals issued.

Special Constabulary Long Service Medal - Sydney Read
The Special Constabulary Long Service Medal is a long service medal awarded in the United Kingdom to members of the Special Constabulary who have completed a specified period of service. Established in 1919 by King George V, the medal was initially created to reward members of the Special Constabulary for their service during World War I. This is George V uncrowned and would have been awarded from 1930.

1914–15 Star - 2449 Pte. S. Read.  R. Suss. R.
The 1914–15 Star, awarded to officers and men who served in any theatre of World War I during 1914 and 1915, was never given alone and was accompanied by the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
