Original Photograph of WW1 Submarine L6. This photograph originally formed part of the Lou Britton British Submarine Collection, which was acquired by the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, Gosport in 2007.

Approximate Dimensions: 17.9cm x 12.3cm (Marked 6772, L.6 on the reverse)

HMS L6 was an L-class submarine built during World War I for the Royal Navy. As an improved version of the E class, she measured 231 ft in length, displaced 891 long tons on the surface, and had a crew of 35. Powered by Vickers diesel engines and electric motors, she reached speeds of 17 knots on the surface.

In 1919, HMS L6 joined the 4th Submarine Flotilla and sailed to Hong Kong, arriving on 14 April 1920. The submarine survived the war but was sold for scrap in January 1935 and broken up in Charlestown, Fife.
