A rare full-sized, unnamed WW1 medal issued as the 'Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve' tippet badge. It features hallmarks with the maker's details, 'B.H.J' (B H Joseph & Co, Birmingham), and is stamped with the retailer's details, 'Carrington & Co, London'. Dated 1917, it includes the original silk ribbon on a pin bar.

This was awarded in WW1 from 1914-1919. The Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service was founded on 27 March 1902 by Royal Warrant and replaced the Army Nursing Service (ANS) and the Indian Nursing Service (INS). They were named in honour of Queen Alexandra. They would later become Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Medical Nursing Corps. Retailed by Carrington and Company, London, England, founded 1780.

Excellent used condition. The retailers mark is faded on the C. The ribbon has signs of wear and tear commensurate with age and service. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
