Brass Binnacle with enclosed working compass set in liquid on gimbaled support for stable balance with movement of ship. The side box with a brass hinged door would have housed a Kerosene lamp for illumination. Marked Sestrel and Dated 67 on compass. Mounted on wooden base.

Approximate measurements: 26cm diameter of wooden mount. 23.5cm tall (Inc. base mount)
