*British, Victoria Cross (VC) Medal Replica, “For Valour”*
A reproduction of the famous Victoria Cross, the highest gallantry decoration awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces for acts of exceptional bravery in the presence of the enemy.
The medal takes the familiar cross pattée form surmounted by a laurel-decorated suspension bar with red ribbon. The obverse features the traditional design showing the Royal Crown surmounted by a lion, with the scroll beneath bearing the famous motto “FOR VALOUR.” The arms of the cross are decorated with the characteristic beaded rays.
The reverse retains the circular centre panel normally used on issued Victoria Crosses for engraving the recipient’s name, rank, unit and date of the action. In this example the panel is blank, consistent with commemorative or display examples.
The lower arm of the reverse bears a small “C” stamp, indicating manufacture as a commemorative piece rather than an official award.

History Note:
The Victoria Cross was instituted in 1856 by Queen Victoria following the Crimean War to recognise acts of the most conspicuous bravery. The decoration remains the highest military award for gallantry in the British honours system. Genuine Victoria Crosses are extremely rare and individually named, with each award recorded in official records.
Because of its iconic status, numerous commemorative and replica versions have been produced over the years for museums, collectors, educational displays, and ceremonial purposes.
*Condition*
Good overall condition. The medal retains its original ribbon and suspension bar with natural aged patina to the metal surfaces. Minor surface wear consistent with handling. The reverse centre remains blank as produced. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
