*British, Royal Navy, cWW2, Black Beret, Large, Unmarked*
World War II Royal Navy (RN) and Royal Marine (RM) berets were made according to Admiralty regulations, which differ significantly from those produced by the War Office. Admiralty-purchased items do not feature a War Department (WD) date stamp, as they fall under a different department. The beret has a distinctive stretched rugby ball shape, a common characteristic of Royal Navy contracted berets. Additionally, it has the characteristic pair of eyelets without a leather rectangle, which is standard for RN berets. However it lacks the hand-stitched half-moon reinforcement typically added to support the badge.
approx 24.5 cm diameter. Blue lining is torn. Leather band, ties.
