*British, c.1971–1992, The Queen’s Own Mercian Yeomanry Staybrite Cap Badge, Anodised Aluminium, Slider Fitting*

An anodised aluminium bi-colour cap badge of The Queen’s Own Mercian Yeomanry, featuring the Queen’s Crown above a circular title band inscribed “THE QUEEN’S OWN MERCIAN YEOMANRY”, with the regiment’s double-headed eagle device to the centre.

The badge retains its original gilt and silvered Staybrite finish and is fitted with the correct vertical slider to the reverse.

Approx. Measurements – 3.1 cm x 4.7 cm.

Historical Note:
The Queen’s Own Mercian Yeomanry was formed in 1971 as a Territorial Army regiment, combining the traditions of several Midlands yeomanry units. The regiment served throughout the Cold War period before being reorganised in 1992 into the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry.

Badges of this type are typical late-20th-century British Army insignia, made in anodised aluminium (“Staybrite”), which replaced earlier brass and gilt badges due to their durability and bright, maintenance-free finish. The presence of the Queen’s Crown confirms manufacture during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and prior to the 1992 reorganisation.

*Condition*
Good overall condition with bright finish and light wear consistent with service use. Some minor rubbing and age wear to the finish. Slider fitting intact to reverse. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
