The CT reference suggests that this beret was made by Compton Webb™ (originally J Compton & Sons). They were founded in 1899 and rapidly earned a reputation for high quality military headwear and clothing. One of their earliest contracts was for the provision of the Service Dress Cap both before and during WW1.
