N.S.C likely stands for National School Championships and was the precursor to English Schools’ Athletic Association. The track and field championships have been held every year since 1925 (except for 1940–1945 due to World War II). At the beginning of June 1925, no national association for schools’ athletics existed and the only county associations were Middlesex and London. Yet over one summer, teachers from 13 counties organised the first ever national schools’ championships at one of the most prestigious venues in the country.
"Daddy" has clearly been added at a later date and one can only imagine the sentimental reasons that may have led to this addition.
