Lefaucheux system pinfire revolver, octagonal barrel, double action. Folding trigger which would make it easier to fit into a pocket. The crowned ELG in an oval markings on the cylinders date to after 1891 and the crown over R to 1994.
Casimir Lefaucheux patented the pinfire cartridge in 1835 and son Eugene designed the pistol. The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries and police.
*Condition*
This is in used condition (we've cleaned some of the surface rust now). Depressing the trigger will rotate the cylinder but not drop the hammer (a broken part inside for sure). The hammer cocks and drops if helped by hand. It has considerable pitting and shows age-related wear. No ejection rod. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
