~ Art Nouveau “Jugendstil” Bisque Jardiniere by E and A Muller ~

The elaborate piece has two dancing girls to the front. The body is covered with drooping flowers in gilt over a sage green background.

This impressive Jardiniere combines different design elements of Art Nouveau.
There is the secessionist influence in the floral decoration on the jardiniere. The
naturalistic female models wear flowing diaphanous gowns show a freedom of
design associated with organic elements of Art Nouveau.

The underside bears a Crown and M along with a model of "5804 24".

This piece is made by a prestigious German porcelain manufacturer; E and A Muller
from the German state of Thuringia. The green backstamp was used after 1907
which ties in with the design periods. Research shows that this piece is unique in its
design. It would make an outstanding and eye-catching display.

~ Dimensions ~

The jardiniere measures 37 cm (14.5 inches) wide by 14 cm (5.5 inches) deep and 18 cm (7.25 inches) tall.

~ Condition ~

The jardiniere does have faults, so may not suit a purist collector. This piece may be
suitable for a lover of Art Nouveau who can see the beauty in the form and
decoration and is able to overlook the blemishes found in this antique piece. There is
a loss of a leaf and a chip from the hair. There are also a couple a minor nibbles.
