The hat, as used by the Australian and New Zealand forces during WW1, has the town crest for Stanhope to one side with gilt around the brim. The Arcadian backstamp is underneath.

This particular crest refers to Stanhope, a small market town in County Durham, England.

The piece is in good order, free from chips and cracks. It is not glazed to the underside. The crest is tidy, the gilt quite rubbed.

The hat is 9 cm (3.5 inches) in length.
