~ Antique Japanese Edo Period Hannya Mask Ivory Netsuke ~

A gorgeous little carved ivory netsuke in the form of a Hannya mask.

The Hannya mask is used in Japanese Noh theatre and represents a jealous female demon.

The piece dates from the Edo period which was between 1603 and 1867.

It is beautifully carved with lots of great detail.

As with all netsuke’s it has a hole to the reverse through which a cord can be threaded.

The netsuke measures 2cm by 2.7cm.

It weighs 3g.

~ Condition ~

The netsuke is in a great condition with no damage.
