~ Antique Early 19 th Century Brass Tobacco Box In The Dutch Manner ~

The box is designed in the Dutch manner with hand engraved work on the hammered domed top. The pattern depicts an armorial coat of arms (a lion and rose, a chevron and a falcons head), with foliage either side.

There is a decorative border that surrounds the coat of arms. The box has a hinged lid on lion paw feet. The quality of the manufacture makes this box aesthetically pleasing e.g. the corners of the box have rolled columns that are perfectly cylindrical, the top has been hammered into a perfect rectangular dome.

~ Condition ~

Overall the box is in good condition but has had some restoration to one of the hinge rivets. The lid is very slightly bent where it has been used. There is no liner to the box.

~ Dimensions ~

The box is 22 cm wide, 14.5 cm deep and 7.5 cm high.
