This is a D D Cone example SN2583 (matching) in full working order, with tight lockup, clear barrel markings, and good grips.

Only around 7,000 of these revolvers were made circa 1861 – 1865. They were an evasion of 1855
S&W's Rollin White patent on a bored-through cylinder. Uhlinger-made revolvers were often sold
unmarked or with a different name on them (to avoid detection). This is a D. D. CONE/WASHINGTON D.C. marked example.

William Uhlinger bought William Hankins' pistol-making machinery when Hankins became Christian Sharp's partner at the beginning of the Civil War in 1861. Uhlinger produced three
models, in order of their production: a) Long cylinder .22 caliber b) .32 caliber, c) Short cylinder .22 calibre.

Uhlinger firearms were purchased by both Confederate and Union Officers during the American Civil War as personal sidearms.

This is a very good example of the 6 shot .32 rimfire model with a 6” octagonal barrel and walnut
grips. Serial number 2583 on the cylinder, butt of the grip frame, on the underside of the barrel, on the edge of the loading gate and stamped on the inside of both wooden grips.

The action is crisp and solid (you can hear three distinct, crisp clicks, as the hammer is pulled back through single and double action to hold full cock), and the lock-up is tight.

~ Dimensions ~

The overall length of the piece is 11 inches (28 cm) and the barrel is 5 inches (13 cm).

~ Condition ~

The revolver is good throughout. The wooden grips are in excellent condition. A nice example of a genuine Civil War period revolver that was imported to UK in 2005.
