~ A Mid 18th Century Flintlock Pistol by Griffin ~

A nice early piece, the pistol comes with a large hexagonal barrel marked 'London' on top and stamped with a pair of proof marks on the left-hand side of the barrel.

The lockplate is named Griffin and some sections of the metalwork are foliage decorated.

The trigger guard is decorated with a pineapple finial.

The grip is decorated with a shield-shaped cartouche.

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel length is 9 inches and the overall length of the piece is 15 inches.

~ Condition ~

The wooden stock has a period repair, as the grip probably cracked at one point in time.

The action half cocks, cocks and releases, but the full cock doesn't hold very well.

Otherwise, the metalwork remains clean with minor age pitting and a nice patina.

The bore is very clean.
