These copper measures were used to measure out a rum tot or grog ration into smaller cups. The measure bears government marks – the royal crown above the initials GR and the number 6, which denotes an inspector’s mark originating from Birmingham during George the VI Reign. The cup bears further inspectors marks, as can be seen in the images.

The measuring cup is 9cm in height, with a total width of 15cm and a cup diameter of 9.5cm.
~ Conditions ~
The measuring cup is in good condition for its age, with minimal signs of denting. The inside of the cup shows a sign of oxidisation as is to be expected.
