A Junior Officers 1805 Naval Sword

Out of stock

SKU: JA_854949402 Category:

Here we have a fascinating and not often seen item, the junior officers or senior other ranks officers sidearm carried during the Napoleonic Wars (and unofficially as a pre regulation sidearm) with the blue dyed shagreen denoting rank.

These swords were a badge of rank and also the combat sword of the officer, akin to the hanger that came before the cutlass but made for a gentleman.

These swords are rare due to the fact many officers simply replaced the shagreen as they gained rank rather than purchasing a new sword.

~ Condition ~

The sword is in good condition for its age with an even patina.
