After Rome’s expansion into Hispania following the Punic Wars, local mints such as Valentia produced bronze coinage combining Roman styles with Iberian motifs. The rider and horse symbolised military strength and freedom, while the obverse deity often reflected protective powers. These coins circulated widely across Roman Hispania, serving both Roman settlers and local Iberian tribes.
