~ 20th Century Swiss Gilt Metal Cased Carriage Clock By Igor Carl Faberge ~
The movement is signed Igor Carl Faberge, Eleven Jewels, Unadjusted, Swiss Made, no. 0128.
The case has an exposed platform escapement, engraved foliate decoration, and a red simulated rubies gem-set face and dial.
It is raised on bracket feet and comes with its key.
~ Igor Carl Faberge ~
Igor Carl Fabergé (1906–1982) was a Swiss artist, designer, and jeweler, and the grandson of the renowned Russian imperial jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé. He established his own business, creating jewelry, objects, and designs.
Born as Igor Carl Agathonovich Fabergé in 1907 in what is now Levashovo, near Saint Petersburg, Russia, he was the son of Agathon Fabergé, a son of the famous Peter Carl Fabergé.
Following the Russian Revolution, he and his family fled Russia in December 1918, crossing the frozen Gulf of Finland to safety. They eventually settled in Switzerland.
In Switzerland, Igor Carl became a talented embroiderer and designer of unique evening dresses. He also created jewelry and other decorative items. He later founded his own company and collaborated with the Franklin Mint, designing numerous items that bore his signature.
He died in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1982 and is buried in Cannes, France.
