~ 19th Century Porcelain Pedestal Ship Bowl #2 ~

A lovely 19th century porcelain pedestal bowl with ship motif.

The bowl is of deep circular form in white porcelain.

The exterior is decorated to the front with an oval reserve, hand-painted with a fully rigged British Merchant Navy ship on a green sea
with a building in the background.

The oval reserve is framed with ornate gilt detailing.

The reverse is plain.

There are horizontal bands of gilding around the circumference of the bowl both top and bottom.

The interior has vague remnants of some gilt flowers.

There is an incised ‘O’ and ‘X’ mark to the base and a little black paint, possibly from a makers mark.

~ Dimensions ~

The bowl has a diameter of 28cm (11 inches) and a depth of 13.5cm (5 ¼ inches).

It weighs 1.25 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The gilding is rather worn in places but the main image is very well preserved.

There is a reasonable long hairline crack to one side, which splits in several directions. (see photo with hand which indicates length of
crack).

Otherwise the bowl is in a nice condition with no chips damages.
