19th Century Maasai Spear

Out of stock

SKU: JA_184547001 Categories: ,

Here we have a very interesting piece brought back from what would have been colonial Kenya.

This spear is what would have been carried by the mature veteran warriors, being a long blade and a long butt spike attached to a short central body of a local hardwood. The blade and spike are held on by friction.

The steel is rough and unpolished and unhardened steel, this spear (aside from the wrappings used to help keep the head and butt on) has been kept in brilliant original condition.

It is a very nice piece and one that would look good in any colonial or African collection.

~ Dimensions ~

The spear is 64 inches (163 cm) long.

The blade is 25 inches (64 cm) long.

The spear weighs 1.25 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The spear has been made roughly but has been kept in good condition.

There may have originally been a skin or fabric wrap around the central grip.
