~ 19th Century French Champlevé Enamel & Marble Cross with Font ~

A 19th Century French Champlevé Enamel and Marble Cross & Font decorated with foliage and vines.

The inscription on the cross reads ‘Souvenir de 1ere Communion’ (Souvenir of the 1st Communion).

The impressive Holy Water font is reminiscent of a church font in its construction with matching hinged lid.

The piece has a brass back plate complete with suspension ring for hanging.

~ Condition ~

There is a natural vein of colour on the left-hand side of the cross.

There are tiny nibbles on the edge of the marble that can be felt when passing a finger along.

I would describe the condition as ‘Very Good’.

The Enamel is in perfect condition.

The brass plate on the back shows ageing commensurate with the age of the object.
