This is a percussion pistol converted from a flintlock piece at the beginning of the Victorian age.
The top of the hexagonal barrel is signed ‘Dunton’ and on the left side a pair of Victorian proof marks can be seen.
The old proof marks have been erased when the new ones were put in place and this is visible behind the name of the manufacturer.
The piece is fitted with both a rear sight and a front silver one.
The tang of the barrel, the trigger guard with a pineapple finial and the rod socket are decorated with floral patterns.
The lock plate has been polished and it’s impossible to see if there were other marks there.
The top of the grip bears a silver cartouche engraved with an angry bull above a crown.
The spring is damaged so the pistol does not cock or release.

The barrel is a 6 inch (15 cm) and the overall length of the piece is 11 inches (28 cm).
It weighs 650 grams.
~ Condition ~
The pistol is in good condition for its age.
As said above, the internals require some attention.
The woodwork and metalwork are fine, free of damage.
The ramrod is missing.
