The watch is fitted with IWC’s well-respected caliber 89, which was constructed to be a workhorse movement with simplicity, reliability, and robust performance in mind. IWC started using this movement in the late 1940s with the IWC Mark XI models commissioned by the British Ministry of Defense, and continued using the movement well into the 1970s. With decades of solid performance and success of this caliber, IWC went on to create several movements based on this caliber that we see in some of its modern pieces today.
