The Walther PPK Automatic Pistol, chambered in 7.65 caliber with a 3-inch barrel, bears the serial number 791252, indicating its production in 1933 (1933 serial numbers fall in the range of 7830xx to 7982xx). That year Walther produced and estimated 15,200 PPK's. 1933 was a significant moment in German history as this was the year that President Paul von Hindenburg appointed Adolf Hitler as Chancellor. (Traditionally, the leader with the most Reichstag seats assumed this role.) This PPK features the correct early 90-degree safety and proof stamp (Crown over N).

The widely known PPK, introduced in 1931 by Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen, is a compact semi-automatic pistol with a shorter grip, barrel, frame, and reduced magazine capacity. Its abbreviation "PPK" stands for "Polizeipistole Kriminal" (police pistol criminal), indicating its use by crime investigators.
