1800s British Navy Cutlass

SKU: JAQJA_638864494 Category:

This is an 1887 pattern British Naval cutlass which is a variant of the 1845 pattern. Many of these swords were converted in 1887 and 1888 to the new specifications. As seen by the shorter blade length (26.5 inches as opposed to the 29.5 inches), this particular sword is an 1887 pattern. This specific sword features a brass bowl guard which is unusual for these as they would typically be made from steel.

*Condition*

The sword is heavily pitted and any marks or stamps are no longer visible. The grip is quite loose and the guard is also pitted and faded. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.
