~ 1886 LSA Mk III Martini-Henry Converted to .303 - Deactivated~

Here we have a very interesting piece, heavily marked and stamped, with a very long service life.

It is deactivated to current EU/UK 2018 standards

The carbine was manufactured as a LSA C0. 1886 Mk III/1, as can be seen by the stamp beneath Queen Victoria's Crown on the right lockplate.

The carbine is serial numbered 4511 on the right side of the barrel and bears a significant number of proof marks and inspector's stamps.

Later in its life the carbine has been converted to the new British standard, the .303 caliber and marked accordingly. The left lockplate bears under the Queen's Crown the following: Enfield/1898/M.E. 303/A.C.I.

The last part of its service was spent as a Drill Rifle as is stamped all over it; "DP" (drill purposes).

The brass ring of the stock bears regimental marks as follows:

3.11
2
Lin. RFA
139

~ Condition ~

The piece is in fair condition for its age, as seen in the pictures. The breach opens and the trigger moves but is disengaged from the action as per the new deactivation standards.
