~ 1872 Colonial Copy Of A Converted To Percussion Brown Bess Musket ~

Probably an Indian musket, the fully stocked piece is fitted with two slings and its ramrod. The lock bears a crown over the letters 'N' and 'R', the date 1872 (the 1 is missing) and the word 'TAWAH'. The butt plate, fore cap and trigger guard are of brass.

~ Condition ~

The stock has a crack to the right side and it is missing its band. The barrel has pitting near the lock as does the lock itself. The lock works well on cock and half-cock with a decent spring.

~ Dimensions ~

The musket is 116 cm (45.5 inches) in total length with a 74.5 cm (29.25 inches) barrel.
