~ 1856 Pattern Pioneer Sword By Wilkinson ~

The ricasso is stamped with "Wilkinson London" to one side, "A" on the spine and on the other is ‘the Crown cypher over the number 35’ and other proof marks.

This pattern of saw back sword was issued to the 10 man squad of Pioneers within each infantry battalion. There role was to clear obstacles and supervise heavy construction work.

~ Condition ~
Please refer to the images as part of the condition report. The sword is in good condition, with rust to the blade, the pommel has lost part of the cross guard, the grip is tidy and all parts are firm.

~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 795 mm (27.3 inches) in length with a 567 mm (22.3 inches) blade.
