The 1853 Pattern is a .577 calibre Minié-type^ muzzle-loading rifled musket, used by the British Empire from 1853 to 1867; after which many were replaced in service by the cartridge-loaded Snider–Enfield rifle. This rifle comes with an original 17inch spike bayonet.

^Minié refers to the type of ammunition used by the rifles at the time. The Minié ball is a hollow-based bullet that was designed to increase range and accuracy when used in conjunction with a rifled barrel.

*Condition*

The rifle is in excellent condition for its age and use. The wooden parts retain an incredible finish and there is no significant damage to any part. Some metal parts are slightly more pitted but generally very good. Please see pictures for more detail
