British Royal Naval Sword

This is an exquisite example of the 1845 pattern British Naval cutlasses. It seems that the 1859 modifications have been made to the sword including shortening of the distance between the grip and knuckleguard, shortening of the blade to 27 inches and a curve at the tip of the hilt towards the blade for redirecting enemy blades. It is clear that this sword was made after 1859 but before 1889 when a new pattern was introduced.

*Condition*

This sword is in excellent condition for its age. The blade is exquisite with some patches of minor pitting. The grip is completely undamaged and the crossguard has some areas of pitting. The scabbard is also in excellent condition with some minor, general wear to the leather.
