Here we have one of the iconic swords of the Napoleonic conflict, the 1796 light cavalry sabre, a curved weapon of incredible effectiveness and terror. These blades are heavily curved slashing weapons with a hatchet point originally pioneered by the Hungarians and then adopted by most of the Napoleonic world.

The guard is the simple stirrup knuckle bow in steel. The officer’s stirrup guards were of brass.

This trooper’s sword has no marks or stamps.

The sword comes with its scabbard.

~ Dimensions ~

The total length is 39 inches (99cm) long,

The blade is 37 ½ inches (95cm) long.

The sword weighs 1.9Kg.

~ Condition ~

This sword is in fair condition with some age related pitting on towards the tip.

The blade has some surface pitting and the scabbard comes with some amount of dents.

Most of the vanish has been retained and overall the item is in fair condition for its age.
