The ring around the neck reads "HENRICK TER HORST ME FECIT ANNO 1607" for the maker and date of manufacture.
The mortar has a band of flowers and a lower band of birds. The handles are of a stylised horses head.
~ Condition ~
Please refer to the images for the condition. The mortar itself is not a later recast. The pestle, whilst certainly a couple of hunder years old, may not be original to the piece.
~ Dimensions ~
The mortar has a maximum mouth diameter of 18 cm (7 inches) and a height of 12.5 cm (5 inches). The pestle is 23 cm (9 inches) in length. The set weighs just over 4 Kg in total.
