SKU: MLJA_297346407 Category:

Here we have a very nice example of a type XVI arming sword using Oakseshotts typology with a type I pommel. This one was dug up from a tomb in its current state.

This sword would’ve been a standard armament for many soldiers during this period suited to both armour piercing with its point or slashing with its edge.

This sword still has a wooden grip well preserved.

The peened tang still has its capped end.

The fuller is narrow and goes Âľ down the blade and the sword has a distal and profile taper.

~ Dimensions ~

The sword is 39 inches (99 cm) long.

The blade is 32 inches (81 cm) long.

The guard is 6 inches (15 cm) across.

The sword weighs 1.12 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The sword is in good condition for its age.

The sword has rusted along its entire length but has kept most of its profile aside from some edge damage.

The guard has rusted to the blade.

The grip has been worn away and dried but there is still quite a lot of it there.
