~ 12th Century Large Oakeshott Type XI Norman Broadsword ~

 It was a 19th century find on the banks of the river Trent and was on display at the chapel at Wiseton Hall, North Nottinghamshire until the halls demolition in the 1960's.

The sword has a lobed pommel, a fuller running down both sides of the long blade and a short grip. It dates to between 1100AD and 1175AD.

~ Condition ~

Please refer to the images for the condition. When mounted in the chapel, two small holes were drilled into. These have been expertly filled. It is in the expected condition of a river find piece,

~ Dimensions ~

The sword is 125 cm (49.25 inches) in length with a 42 cm (107 inches) blade.
