A superb quality, very rare set of refurbished Second World War German Kriegsmarine U-boat Commander 8x60 binoculars.

They are made of solid brass and steel and complete with lens cover and leather carry strap.

The binoculars are marked to the right shoulder ‘8×60’ (8 x power magnification with 60mm objective lenses) with the makers mark ‘blc’ (for Carl Zeiss Militarabteilung, Jena) and with a serial number of ‘370561’.

The lens cap is of black plastic attached via elastic. It is marked ‘Benutzer’ (User) to one side and ‘Okulare festgestellt Nicht verdrehen’ (Eyepieces locked Do not twist) to the other.

There is a white hand-painted cross to the lens cap which denotes use for the commander only.

The binoculars measure 21.5cm (8 ½ inches) by 23cm (9 inches).

They weigh 2.59 Kg

~ Condition ~

The binoculars are in a very nice condition with only a few light marks to the surface but no damages.

The optics are in a superb condition. The binoculars focus well, adjust smoothly and give a sharp image.

The replacement leather strap is supple and in really nice condition.
